For pensions that have auto-enrolment enabled, you must ensure that the impacted employee has a National Insurance (NI) number assigned to their record. Without an NI number assigned or where the NI number is currently set to waiting, the team member will pay the full employee contribution.

Note: This does not apply to pensions with auto-enrolment disabled, where team members will get the relief at source applied regardless of whether they have a NI number.

You can check whether the team member has an NI number assigned (and if not, assign the NI number) by following these steps:

  1. Log in to Paycircle.

  2. Open the relevant payroll.

  3. Click Team.

  4. Find the impacted team member and then click the action cog βš™οΈ.

  5. Click View Profile.

  6. Click on the Information tab.

  7. In the Personal Details section, you will be able to see the NI Number.

  8. If you need to add in the NI number, click Edit.

  9. Assign the NI Number, click Save.
