A worker with this Payroll ID already exists

This error indicates that a worker with the same Payroll ID is already present on at least one company sharing the same PAYE reference.

​Note: This can be a company of a different name - only the PAYE scheme reference is important, as this is what is checked to confirm if any worker has the same Payroll ID.

Check the company for duplicate Payroll ID workers

In the first instance, you should check the Employee Details report to verify that there are no other workers with the same Payroll ID.

  1. Search for and open the relevant company record.

  2. Click Reporting.

  3. Under Paycircle Employee Details Report, click Open Report.

You can view this report to check if any workers already have the Payroll ID that you are trying to add to the system.

Taking over a company payroll from a bureau also using Paycircle

If you are taking over running a company payroll from another bureau (where that bureau are currently running the same company payroll through Paycircle), that bureau will need to ensure that they remove the PAYE reference from their version of this company first.

This is because the system will identify the workers you are trying to add as already being present on the PAYE scheme, due to the fact they are present on another company record with the same scheme reference.

We recommend reaching out to the bureau you are taking over the payrolling duties from in this instance, as support cannot remove the PAYE references from companies at a customers request.
