Set up a team member's work pattern

Configure the work pattern of an employee / team member.

When you add a team member, you can select a work pattern in their Pay information form and preview it before saving. If they don’t use one of the work pattern templates in company settings, you can add a custom work pattern. You can add work pattern changes when they occur.

In this article, we explain how to add standard and non-standard working patterns to a team member.

Add a standard work pattern for a team member

  1. Open the Pay information form for a team member.

  2. Select Standard pattern as the type of employment.
    You can now add a custom work pattern or select from the list of pre-defined templates.

  3. Click the dropdown menu to see all the standard templates available.

  4. Select the relevant template then set an effective date that falls within the current pay period.

  5. To see how the pattern aligns with future pay periods, click Preview pattern in pay period calendar.
    You can then continue to set up the team member’s pay information as normal.

Add a non-standard work pattern for a team member

  1. Open the Pay information form for a team member.

  2. Select Non-standard pattern as the type of employment.

  3. Select from all the non-standard templates in the dropdown menu then set an effective date.

  4. Select if they're paid an annual salary or a daily or hourly rate.
    You should only use a daily rate if the team member works the same hours on each of their working days.

Add a custom work pattern for a team member

  1. Open the Pay information form for a team member.

  2. Select the type of employment.

  3. Select the Use a custom work pattern check box.

  4. Build the team member's working pattern.

  5. Select if they're paid an annual salary or a daily or hourly rate.
    You should only use a daily rate if the team member works the same hours on each of their working days.

Add a work pattern change for a team member

To add a work pattern change:

  1. Click Teams then click the relevant team member.

  2. Click the information tab then scroll down to Pay information.

  3. Click Edit then click Add a work pattern change.

  4. Select a pre-defined template or set up a new custom work pattern.

  5. Enter the effective date.
    This must be later than the current pattern and fall within the current pay period.

  6. To see how the pattern aligns with future pay periods, click Preview pattern in pay period calendar.
    You can then continue to set up the team member’s pay information as normal.

The current and new work patterns appear in the Pay information section. The work pattern change remains in a pending state until you run payroll. To delete or edit it before then:

  1. Open Pay information form then click Edit.

  2. Update or delete the pattern.
