We’ve updated the Santander BACS file format to fully comply with the bank’s specifications. This change is designed to prevent errors when uploading files to Santander and ensure smoother payment processing.
What’s changed?
The file format now includes all required fields, such as the Service User Number (SUN) and hash code, where required, and trailing separators have been corrected.
Single and bulk payment options are clearly separated:
Santander – for single BACS and Single FPS (Faster Payments Service)
Santander (Bulk List) – for bulk BACS and bulk FPS payments
Faster Payments (FPS) files now meet Santander’s exact specifications, reducing the risk of rejection.
What this means for you
When creating payment files for Santander, simply choose Santander for single payments or Santander (Bulk List) for bulk submissions. Both options now generate the correct BACS and FPS files, meeting Santander’s latest requirements.
