If you are expecting an employee to have a statutory sick pay (SSP) value generated for them, and Paycircle is not generating this value, there are a few checks you should run through to determine why the payment is not being generated.

Does the employee earn enough?

The employee must earn at least £123 per week in order to be eligible for SSP payments. You should check that the employee meets this eligibility in the first instance.

Does the HMRC calculator agree that the employee is due SSP?

We recommend using the SSP calculator provided by HMRC to confirm that the employee is eligible for an SSP payment.

Has the schedule been marked as 'Paid in full'?

When a schedule has been marked as paid in full, Paycircle will not action the SSP calculation again and the user entering the schedule would be required enter exactly what was paid on any previous payroll software. This behaviour is intentional to eliminate the risk of potential rounding errors.

Note: We only calculate a schedule if any payments are still due to go through Paycircle (e.g., if the schedule isn’t paid in full yet).

If you want the schedule to be calculated so that outstanding payments can still be made, you'd need to configure the schedule and select No, so that the system generates the SSP payments for you. You can correct the schedule using the edit button.
