Smart View is your AI-powered payroll command centre, bringing key payroll insights, analytics, and recommendations into one unified dashboard. Rather than digging through multiple screens, Smart View provides a central view backed by intelligent suggestions and management capabilities.

Smart View automatically appears after you've calculated your Payroll. You can access this by navigating to Payroll, then click the Smart View tab.

πŸ€“ Tip: If using Access Evo Feed, you'll receive a notification directly linking you to Smart View after calculating Payroll.

How does it work?

Smart View is made up of several components comparing the most recently calculated payroll with the previous payroll period. These are used to generate an overview and intelligent recommendations.

πŸ€“ Tip: Use the toggle to alternate between viewing figures as a currency or as a percentage.

High-level payroll comparison

High-level payroll comparison stats provide a summary of the payroll period across the company. Instead of manually calculating differences, intelligent analysis gives you a clear overview and rationale for variance in payroll periods.

This is broken up into several key metrics:

  • Gross pay

  • Net pay

  • PAYE

Each metric breaks down the current period value, the variance from the previous period and an explanation as to what changed and why. This provides quick validation of payroll calculations, aiding financial planning and identifying anomalies.

You'll also be able to view the headcount of employees, including the pay run.

Employee net pay variance

This section highlights employees with a significant change in their take-home pay compared to the previous period. There are two main categories used here.

  • Medium Variance

    • Includes moderate pay changes (2-5% variance) that may need attention.

    • Typically includes regular adjustments, minor deductions or overtime variance.

  • Large Variance

    • Significant pay changes (5% or higher variance) requiring review.

    • Might include major salary adjustment, substantial overtime, leavers or new starters.

You will be able to view employee names, the variance in pay, along with an intelligent explanation for the variance. This provides quick validation of payroll accuracy and can help you anticipate employee pay queries.

⚠️ Important: Each category will only display the 5 most significantly varied employees in that group. You can review additional employees using standard payroll reports.

Draft payslips

When using Smart View after calculating your payroll, you will be prompted with "Would you like to send draft payslips to employees for review".

Draft payslips allow you to send preview versions of employee payslips before finalising payroll. This allows employees to review the payslips and pass back queries before payroll is submitted to HMRC.

Let us know what you think

Click the thumbs up or thumbs down to let us know what you think. You'll then be able to add additional comments before submitting the feedback.
