Process statutory paternity pay

How to add statutory paternity pay (SPP) to an employee record.

If an employee goes on paternity leave, you can process their SPP easily in Paycircle. To do this, follow the steps below.

  1. Click Team then select the relevant team member.

  2. Click the Action βš™οΈ icon then click Paternity pay.

  3. Enter the baby's due date then enter the birth date.

  4. Click Calculate then enter the paternity leave start date.

  5. If the start date is before the current period, turn on the Add payments already made toggle.
    ​
    If you do this, you also need to add any payments made to date in the current tax year to the team member's year to date figures.
    ​

  6. Click Next then enter the gross pay amounts for the relevant period.

  7. Select the relevant pro-rata method for the schedule:

    • Standard: Pro-rates their pay for the whole period.

    • Period: Deduct the number of days off on maternity from their pay for the period.

    • Manual: You alter their pay manually.

  8. Select whether the calculate the schedule on a period or weekly basis.

  9. Click Save & Finish.

View the schedule

Once you've added the SPP, to view the schedule, follow the steps below.

  1. Click Team then select the relevant team member

  2. Click the Schedules tab then click the SPP schedule.
